National Prevent a Litter Month
February is National Prevent a Litter Month to raise public awareness of the necessity of spaying and neutering dogs, cats, puppies and kittens to ward off the vast numbers of litters that arrive at Second Chance each spring. A single unaltered female cat, her mate and all of their offspring can produce 420,000 cats in 7 years. A single unaltered female dog, her mate and their offspring can produce 67,000 dogs in 6 years. In the US each year 4 million unwanted cats and dogs are euthanized. The needless suffering and euthanasia of millions of pets is easily prevented if each family spays and neuters their own pets.
Say Hello to Arnie
He's our Featured Pet!
 Arnie is a 2 year old black lab mix who has been at SCRC since the beginning of October. He has the sweetest coloring with his white chest and white feet. He also has a short tail which just adds to his quirky personality. At first Arnie pulled on the leash when he was taken out of his kennel, but Arnie is very smart and got the hang of not pulling right away. He has been a real social dog lately, he has to check out everybody before he goes back in his kennel. Arnie seems very eager to please and learn. He knows "sit" and loves to show you. Arnie is a people lover and likes to give "hugs", and again he listens right away when told, "down". He loves to run around the play yard and he likes other dogs. Arnie is the kind of dog who will get your attention and you won't be able to resist his charm. Oh, and lately we found out something else about Arnie. . . he LOVES the snow! It is so fun to watch him play in it! Come meet Arnie. You won't be disappointed.
